Milan Fashion Week to make an historical move

It is now almost official, in September; Milan will welcome the fashion crowd
in some of its historic buildings for a womenswear spring summer 2011 that will
at least via locations refer to tradition.
Among the venue selection, Circolo Filologico, Palazzo Clerici, Loggia dei
Mercanti and Palazzo Giureconsulti are on the chosen list. These places should
remind us of the importance of Milan as a cultural and trading city. Indeed,
Circolo Filologico is one of Milan’s most prestigious artistic and cultural
institutions and 16th Century Palazzo Giureconsulti used to be the home of the
Milan Stock Exchange until 1983, year of the last operations ensued.

But more than only new stylish venues, Milan will welcome its guests on carpeted
pathways that will link the new locations where shows will be transmitted live
outside. Forget the running, the missing, and the stress and look forward to
enjoy a fashion week Italian style. “Tranquilla” or almost, at least you should
have time to see all the shows and not the ones you only have time for. A 7 day
calendar confirmed, runway shows close to each other, Milan will take care of
some of its best friends, indeed, fashion accounts for 11 percent of Italy’s
production and employ 1 million people.
According to Mario Boselli, head of Italy’s Chamber of Fashion, “We are
rebuilding our system, after 30 years of collaboration with the city’s
fairgrounds”. A mini revolution, that should only do Milan and us good… Avanti!
