Up & Down along the Hamptons
Important disclosure: this article is not for the inhabitants of Manhattan.
There is no point telling weekend Hamptonites about the glitz and the natural beauty this city escape represents. As there is no point in trying to scout a happening place they haven’t heard about. More or less what’s really going on in the Hamptons are private house parties, strike one for real estate, and no travel guide will provide you with the invitation, nor the address of the a-listers. Tips for Hamptons wannabes: the only thing you can do is rent a house and buy yourself a pass into meeting the right people. Conversation as follows while taking a stroll on the beach and you pet someone’s dog: He is so cute. We just live down the road – address -. The expert Hamptonite will reply: Oh you guys just moved? We are having a party tonight in our cottage, why don’t you join us?. Which will eventually lead to being invited to the annual Mercedez-Benz Polo Challenge in Bridgehampton, this year starting on the 24th of July.
If you can’t find a property to rent for this year, there is always the next,
for now you can enjoy a day out of the city travelling on the Hampton Jitney,
not just any bus, which is already one step closer to the lifestyle the Hamptons
predict.
