A Krav Maga contact

Posted Jul 3, 2010

Self-defence is a theme we recurrently hear. To me it’s a reminder of pre-Giuliani New York when Central Park wasn’t as jogger friendly as it is now.

Empowered women would be the first to crowd the body studios and learn how to overthrow an attacker no matter what angle they came from. As in every installed trend it developed itself stealing to this or that sport, whether boxing or martial arts. Then there is Krav Maga, Hebrew for contact combat, not entirely sure where one could use skills taught to the IDF and first invented to kill the enemy with your bare hands, it is becoming a strong wave joined by many exercise fans looking for a new way to – avoiding the attacker was in the 80s so now outdated – release stress and shape their body along with it. It’s simple and practical, based on hand-to-hand brutal counter attacks with the aim to neutralize the enemy using angles of your hand or focal points of the body.

Watch a demo:

No rules. Just mere survival. Although it might not sound fit to a city environment, or pertinent to your daily life, don’t you sometimes wish you could deal with your enemy just using your bare hands? Again, instructors suggest not to do it at home, to have hands as a weapon can be dangerous.
