The dirty weekend

Posted May 1, 2009

They we were thinking all people wanted from a five-star hotel was a good spa and a stocked mini-bar. How wrong we were. Turns out one of America's top hotels is in demand because they provide the perfect setting for some horizontal action.

The Carneros Inn, is "a luxury resort surrounded by picturesque vineyard landscapes of Napa Valley, California". Described as a “a luxurious retreat designed to make absolutely everything feel better" - we're not entirely convinced it's just their complementary tolieteries that ensures their guests leave with flushed cheeks and satisfied demeanours.

It's been said that the hotel and all that open and picturesque space can lead from one thing to another. Before they know it, guests are relishing the opportunity to partake in some "outdoor exercise" in their personal pool, hot-tub shower  - or perhaps all three.

The Carneros Inn, a PlumpJack Resort, was created to provide an intimate atmosphere reminiscent of its unique surroundings. Actually understanding why most people go to hotels - and it's not to watch pay-per-view movies, the surrounding cottages have beds with crisp white linens and padded headboards so as not to wake the neighbours...

Outdoor showers with room for two people to share the nightime blanket of stars...complete with pipes to hold onto should it get slippery in there.

Film Stars Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal were said to have visited on their first trip away together - now we know why.
