The Twilight Zone: Travel to a new moon

Posted Nov 5, 2009

From the fictional vampire nation a.k.a Twilight to the supposed first steps of Dracula according to Bram Stoker - Swide reveals the brooding places to visit this fall.

Folks - Washington, USA, the setting for Stephanie Meyer's teenage vampire series, Twilight.

Where's there a will there's a way and where's there are possible sightings of Edward and Bella (Robert Pattinson and Kirsten Stewart) - there's well, a frenzy.

Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series has turned a former out-of-the-way Washington lumber town called Forks into a must-see tourist destination for all manner of avoid fans and gothic followers. Although it's reported that Stephanie had never actually visited the town before deciding upon it as an atmospheric location - Folks is said to have the most rainfall in America.

Of course, that's not all anymore as the town now offers a positively organized tourist trail for those wanting to satisfy both their blood and perhaps Pattinson lust. EverGreen Escapes offers a Twilight Rainforest Tour from Seattle that consists of a ferry ride from Seattle to Forks, a tour of the town and its surrounding beaches and dinner at the same restaurant in which it is written in the books Edward and Bella had their first date.

Whitby, Yorkshire Abbey, England - fictionalised in Bram Stoker's eponymous Dracula novel.

On the other hand, another similar out of the way town, also with a heavy rainfall and a alternative travel destination for those seeking gothic charm is Whitby in England. Unlike Meyer, Bram Stoker actually lived in the town from 1890-1896 whilst he overlooked the icy seas, the gothic abbey and completed his Dracula novel.

The North Sea, North Yorkshire

In the book, a Russian ship called Demeter enters Whitby harbour before a massive storm, with its dead captain lashed to the helm. Crashing into its pier, a large dog leaps onto English soil - Count Dracula had arrived in England.

NEW MOON - the second movie in the Twlight series is released on November 20th.
