The Twitchhiker

Goodwill - the internet? Swide is temporarily shocked at rumours of tweeting love. We take a look at the tweeter attempting to travel as far around the world as possible in 30 days, relying only on the goodwill of people using Twitter and Liv Tyler...

The Twitchhiker is as we speak attempting to travel as far around the world from his home in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK to New Zealand - relying entirely on other people to get him there via Twitter and all in then name of charity.

The Twitchhiker's strict virtual rules are that he can only can only accept offers of travel and accommodation on Twitter, from users who are following @twitchhiker. All his travel and accommodation should be offered through Twitter and if it's not offered then poor old Twitchhiker is sleeping rough.

So far so good however - as Swide tunes in on his L.A adventures and the moment when Twitchhiker meets Liv Tyler at an L.A party courtesy of his host patricktoneill.

Twitchhiker: Hello, excuse me, Liv?

Liv Tyler: Yes?

Twitchhiker: My name’s Paul - you don’t know me, but I’m hitchhiking around the world and-

Liv Tyler: Hitchhiking? That’s so cool! Nobody hitchhikes anymore! Tell me all about it!

Twitchhiker: Really? Oh, ok, so I’m hitchhiking around the world using Twitter, and-

Liv Tyler: Twitter?

Twitchhiker: Yes, Twitter!

Liv Tyler: What’s Twitter?

Twitchhiker: It’s a social media network on the internet that-

Liv Tyler: Oh. Right.

Already in New Zealand on day 24 - Twitchhiker is currently driving the length of New Zealand’s South Island from Wellington to Invercargill, with a man he's never met called @SmileyKiwi. Read more at www.twitchhiker.com.


Twitchhiker is hoping to raise an enormous sum of money for charity: water, a fantastic cause currently being supported by the global phenomena that is Twestival.
