NYC hipsters find a new place to sit and stare

Posted Oct 14, 2009

NYC’s new Crosby Street Hotel with its mix of English stately home meets downtown NY and private screening room is already playing host to the A-List.

With that chill and post-fashion detox in the air and Gossip Girl back on the TV it’s tempting to stay in and forget about the world outside. The problem is we then have nothing (absolutely nothing) to post on twitter – so with this in mind, we’re intrigued by NYC’s new hangout. Culture and luxury – sign us up.

The Crosby Street Hotel's private screening room has already played host to a premiere of forthcoming film, 'An Education’ starring upcoming actress, Miss Sundance (as in the festival) and rumoured to be in line for an Oscar, Carey Mulligan (see the film's trailer below).

The young actress was at the Crosby for the bash - hosted by The Cinema Society last week. Joining her and thus cementing the hotel’s cool credentials were actress Susan Sarandon, model Agyness Deyn, Anna Wintour’s daughter Bee Shaffer, DJ Charlotte Ronson, and model Zoe Kravitz.

The hotel is set to launch a “Film Club” like those at London’s Soho Hotel which offers members the chance to have a meal at the hotel’s restaurant before seeing films that range from classics to latest releases.
