In this case, PDA doesn't stand for Public Display of Affection

Milan Fashion Week can be overwhelming to the fashion newbies. Understanding that planners, city guides, maps, and other aids tend to take up too much space in handbags, Swide offers up some mobile application tips that will ease your way through the mayhem.

The following are some of the necessary things a fashionista should have sorted out during fashion week and the mobile/PDA(personal digital assistant applications to assist them:

Know who’s who:
When fraternizing with the fashion elite, it’s important to know who’s who, but that can be difficult to those who aren’t so fortunate as to have a photographic memory. Polar Rose have developed a mobile application that will help us spot the big players like Giovanna Battaglia and Anna dello Russo, with Recognizr: a facial recognition application. Posci explains how the application functions exactly: “Recognizr creates a 3-D model of the person’s mug and sends it across a server where it’s mathed with an identity in the database. A cloud server conducts the facial recognition and sends back the subject’s name as well as links to any social networking sites the person has provided access to.”

This application essentially gives a person the entire social history of the individual scanned. Newbie-fashionistas can be just as skilled at spotting the fashion hotshots as any fashion journalist.

Planning out your fashion week outfits:
When there are so many things running through your mind, why have what you wear to a show slow you down? Swide suggests an application aimed at organising your wardrobe. Stylebook application on iPhone allows images of your clothing to be organised into categories and assembled together in creating saved looks. The saved looks can be stored under each individual day to help you plan out your outfits for the week.

Knowing your way around the city:
There can be anywhere between 5-11 shows in the same day; a fashionista never wants to risk missing one as a result of being lost on the metro. Milano Metro iPhone application is designed to keep you on track to the various fashion venues all with your handheld device. The application allows you to choose the origin of your destination, suggests the closest stations from your current location, as well as showing your location’s street view. Say “ciao” to having to translate directions from that kind Italian on the street.
