Hermé macaroons hit new Paris tearoom
Much as we love a cocktail or three - there's is something ever so chic about inviting someone to tea. With the offer of a flute of champagne now seemingly passé - when in Paris, the new power fashion pit stop is set to be 'Chez Charlotte' (In London leading bespoke perfumer Miller Harris have also just launched their very own instore tea room too).
Opening its doors this month, the Hotel des Academies et des Arts located in Paris’ 6th Arr, is an intimate tea room dedicated to serving the best quality tea and pastries to a sophisticated clientele in a gourmet setting.
With Chez Charlotte once a café where painters would trade works of art to pay their bills - you can also showcase your bohemian credentials whilst sipping your tea.

The tea selection includes a vast collection of gourmet teas from Le Palais des Thés. With over a dozen teas from around the globe on offer, guests can savour the flavours of varieties such as The du Tigre, a Taiwanese smoked tea, or Fleur de Geisha, a tea inspired by the Japanese Hanami tradition of viewing cherry trees in blossom.

The highlight of the tea service however is the selection of macaroons from celebrated French pastry Chef Pierre Hermé.
Hermé, whose shops grace the streets of Saint-Germain-des-Pres and Tokyo has created macaroons made of Balsamic vinegar, white truffles with grilled hazel nuts, chocolate and foie gras, wild roses with fig and foie gras, as well as black truffle for the hotel, which is the only hotel in Paris to serve these macaroons.
Besides a small shop on Rue de Bonaparte,Herme’s macaroons can only be found at famous French bistros Deux Magots and Lipp, both located in Paris' Saint-Germain district.

Chez Charlotte is open seven days a week from 2:30pm – 6:00pm. Reservations are not necessary, although can be made via e-mail at reservation@hoteldesacademies.com.
