Hamster chic causes a rodent frenzy
Each of the five hamsters — Chunk, Num Nums, Pipsqueak, Mr Squiggles and Patches — has a different character. Pipsqueak, for example, is described as a “petite powerhouse” with “the curiosity of a dozen cats”.The interactive hamsters respond to touch with squeaks and noises as well as separately sold accessories that include a toy house, a bed and a small car with sound effects such as teeth cleaning and toilet flushing noises, televison sounds, disco music and yawning.

Produced by the Chinese toy company Zhu Zhu, the Internet is going crazy in a bid to get its hands on one. According to The Times, on eBay - one seller was offering the inflated price of four for £100.
The attraction? The manufacturers claim the toys have the appeal of a real hamster, but “don’t smell, make a mess, die prematurely or get trapped under the floorboards”.

This new Nantes hotel - a nsnip at 99 Euros is catering for a more exotic clientele - that of a rodent lover. The hotel comes equipped with the everything the modern-day hamster might need (WIFI however is not included). If life feels like one constant round of repetitive steps - then perhaps a stay in a hamster wheel might well be the cherry on the cake.
