Mr. Porter: Net-a-porter for men
“Opening for business soon”, says the landing page when one types www.mrporter.com. After many rumours, it is now official since June 10th that Monsieur will have his own luxury online shopping destination. Made for the stylish, affluent busy men, Mr. Porter should launch with world known partners such as Burberry, Lanvin, Balmain, Margiela, Rick Ownens or YSL. The selection will be of a very high standard mixing must haves and fashion discoveries. No complains will be accepted, our man will understand why we buy online and at Net-a-Porter. The new born online luxury retailer counts on 100% of Net-a-porter customers that declared having a man in their lives and on 3 million users that trust Net-a-porter and that will be invited to make a purchase for the men in their lives. Because customers are real people, Nathalie Massenet and her team will master social media portals such as Facebook to get feedbacks and optimize the first product selection. Originally scheduled to launch in 2 years, Mr. Porter comes earlier because men have asked for it. They are tired of an often-poor online shopping experience and to be marginalized. Of course the trends and looks will be analysed from a different angle than the one used to build editorials on Net-a-porter.
Mrs Massenet seems ready for the ride, she recently declared: “I am more excited about this than anything we’ve ever done”. I am thrilled as well, I just cannot wait to get my man on a shopping mission at Mr. Porter, maybe will we be able to join baskets from the two portals? How about a couple treat? Let’s see in January!
