Christmas lists start here

Posted Oct 12, 2008

Personalised stationery leaves a chic mark. Emails are for the office. No explanation needed. They are definitely not for thank-you letters, love notes, invitations or networking. Letter writing however is.

Recently inspired by Frank Warren’s blog PostSecret (see our art section) we began to appreciate the finer points of putting pen to paper. This of course led us to the chic re-discovery of stationery. Our favourite find to date? Milan’s Pettinaroli’s printers and stationers.

Established in 1881 the store is nestled close to The Scala and Milan’s Duomo. Beautiful wedding cards are available on Amalfi paper, elegant party invitations have inspired us to organise a cocktail evening asap, whilst visting cards transport us back to the age of elegance. On order already are a set of personalized Christmas cards.

Mrs. John L. Strong, established in 1929 in New York and supplier to world leaders, American presidents, royal families and society's prominent personalities (including Wallis and Edward Simpson) is an alternative destination for grown-up luxe. With bespoke and "Ready To Write" (such a great name) sections, an on-line service is available for customers to design and create their own personalized stationery. There really is nothing chicer.
