Call me airhead

Straight from this year's Geneva motor show - our names are down for the "Airpod" - the car you can drive with a joystick.

Small in size, a tiny price, zero pollution, fun and futuristic design. Costing only a euro every 200 km - the AIRPod is literally a real breath of fresh air.

Designed by French carmaker MDI (Motor Development International), the AIRPod can be re-charged in just 8 hours at an AC outlet, or 2 minutes at an "air station" (we think meet you at the air station has a nice ring to it too...) and travel up to 137 miles (220 kilometres) on a single 46-gallon (175-liter) tank of compressed air, producing zero emissions on the road.

Easy to park, the AIRPod's other main advantage is the newfound ability to opt out of any credit-crisis type chitchat. With no further need for petrol, the economy will can take a back-seat in you roomy four-seater futuristic run-a-round.

Available in three options - the standard AIRPod, AIRPod Cargo and AIRPod Baby.

The standard version has four seats and space for luggage whereas the Airpod Cargo designed for artists, couriers, small businesses, shop-a-holics has a single seat with the rest of its space dedicated to luggage. The AIRPod Baby has two front seats and a large hold.

The AirPod will be trialled by airlines Air France and KLM at their bases in Paris and Amsterdam, from May and hit the market for 6,000 Euros ($7,500) later this year. Never has the prospect of becoming an airhead been so desirable.
