A Dolce & Gabbana happening in Shanghai

Posted Jun 7, 2010

The iconic Italian fashion house has expanded its Asian presence with a new store that just opened last week in booming Shanghai.

Remember New York in the eighties? Shanghai is definitely having a golden momentum. This city swings and thanks to Domenico and Stefano, has a new spot to check out: Dolce&Gabbana’s new flagship store of 773 square meters at Plaza 66 represents the largest space of the brand in China. The two designers worked on this project with BAM Design Architects and have succeeded in creating a unique environment to reveal seasons after seasons the Dolce&Gabbana Man and Woman.
You can now enter the Dolce&Gabbana world through a new door and be enchanted by a Sicilian inspired design: eight Murano chandeliers, floors that are paved with signature Basaltina stone, dark grey molten rock… All the ingredients are there.

It is a huge space that surprisingly enough feels very intimate with two different salons presenting collections displayed by groups and themes; a dark glamorous boudoir atmosphere in the woman side of the boutique with black glass, black chandelier and black velvet sofas should make us feel like forties Hollywood movie stars. To add some sparkles and magic to this event, The Iconic Bustier exhibition, just opened in the store. seventeen unique corsets divided in two themes Heritage and Vintage have been selected from past and present collections to tell the story of a Dolce&Gabbana signature item. The key brand lines are emphasized: sensuality, femininity and grace. Let it shine with embroideries, satin, crystals; fashion for seduction, no?

A shopping experience that should be of a one of a kind with a Chinese twist.
