Hamburger: Create it, Tweet It, Share It

Posted Jan 20, 2011

4food is a organic hamburger restaurant in Manhattan that knew how to differentiate its service from its competitors. They do an amazing job combining social media networks, product development strategies and user generated content. Yummy!

Innovative ways to earn money? Check. Even more innovative concepts for a fast food restaurant? Check. Fun, social media networks, hamburgers, taste? Check, check and check. So what's this crazy place? 4food is a new restaurant in Manhattan that creates a new concept for boring fast food chains. I had totally missed on this, yet thanks to my friend Vincent and his enthusiasm for sharing his experience there, I got updated and decided to share this with you. In the most basic sense, it's a restaurant where you create your own hamburger.

You can choose your type of bread, the type of sauce, all the ingredients and then name it as you wish (normally people name the hamburger with their names... narcissistic much?). Then when it's ready for order, you register it in the menu et voila! People start tweeting about it, sharing it on facebook, checking in the restaurant thanks to foursquare. As soon as you start buying the hamburgers, the creators of these hamburgers start earning money for each and every hamburger that is sold. It's a bit like the affiliates program of Amazon! Although it's fun reading this on paper, it's even more fun having that experience because people are tweeting like crazy to get their hamburgers sold! There are very big screen on which you see people sharing this content on different social media networks... There are ipads everywhere for electronic menus and hamburger creation programs...

At the end of the day, it's one of the craziest concepts that USA came up with. In the era where everything goes digital, this was the last step... or not?
