Thee Big Baobab - A new way to do a pub
No
kidding, we found the cool pub to go to, the one that is surely on everybody’s
it list even if like me you are not a beer fan. Because at the end it all comes
down to the experience, so one beer, two beer, three beers at the Big Baobab
owned by Mr.&Mrs. van Heerden is like drinking your favourite cocktail.
Not
only is the place original but also wide, try to picture it: it has its own
cellar and it takes 40 adults with outstretched arms to encircle it. The bar is
hollowed into the 155ft wide trunk on the van Heerden couple’s farm.
They
decided to transform the tree into a pub soon after they acquired the Sundland
farm. If the pub has everything a classic British pub features, it has
nevertheless kept the historical signs of the three’s previous life which
explains that more than 7,000 people come to visit the Big Baobab each year to
drink and discover the remains of some Bushmen and Dutch pioneers found by the
van
Heerdens.
Needless to say that the location and its history add a lot to the beer that
becomes a precious elixir. To end your “cheers” with some traditional pub food
you can book or just pop in the Treehouse restaurant. As the name suggests, you
will eat in a tree and extend your wooden toned
evening.
To conclude: Book your next Beer at the Big Baobab.
