The New York legend who put art on the menu
The chanterelle is a delicate but highly fragrant mushroom and that was just what its eponymous' restaurant cuisine was about. After years of gorgeous French cuisine during which it became a New York legend, life got in the way of this fairytale forcing the happy couple who successfully ran it for years to move on to pastures new. For an ending in style however, the owners decided to auction off their artful menu covers designed by friends and art legends. Amongst them is a variety of names from Marcel Marceau to Matthew Barney.

Some of Chanterelle's dining legends:

Ross Bleckner.

Keith Haring.

Matthew Barney.

Marcel Marceau.
Some of the artworks are still available (including the Matthew Barney.... we want, we want!); see Chanterelle's website for further information.
