Jellymongers to the stars

Posted Nov 20, 2008

Taking the lead from Mark Ronson's absinthe filled party jellies - we investigate dessert trends post-cupcakes

Bored of macaroons and cup-cakes - click on Bompas & Parr's site www.jellymongers.co.uk.

Forget notions of jelly shots, and cheap lime green gloop, Bompas & Parr create fine English jellies, design bespoke jelly moulds and curate spectacular culinary events. Not only did we discover there is such as concept as glow in the dark jelly but there is also a whole range of bespoke jelly options that have left us quivering with excitement about what we could create for our next birthday bash.

As the site suggests - jellies make superb centrepieces. The Victorians used jellies to decorate their tables for dinner parties and as guests got increasingly "merry" the jellies would wobble entertainingly - and some would say adding an erotic quality to the quiver.

Expect to see them at an exclusive bash near you this Christmas (for those establishments still holding Christmas parties that is).
