Have Italians forgotten how to cook?

Posted Nov 20, 2008

A temporary space offers food and virtual cookery lessons in the run up to Christmas

We'd always assumed Italians had it sorted when it came to culinary affairs. After discovering a new temporary space is offering virtual weekend cooking lessons however we're assuming some of Milan's population have been spending more time in the shopping district than in the cucina.

Until November 30th - in the "Tortona" area of the city, a district known more for its design, fashion and studios than food, POP UP - a temporary restaurant from The Spoon Group  will be offering lunch and dinner from Monday to Friday to its fashionable residents. Not only this, but guests will have the added bonus of chefs cooking a variety of dishes in front of them as well as being available for questions and culinary requests. Imagine if you will a DJ - only dressed in white and wearing a hat.

Weekends in November will be dedicated to culinary lessons - courtesy of Nintendo DS. This little gadget provides a virtual chef in its "Cooking Guide"  offering a variety of global recipes that are explained step by step in the comfort of your own kitchen - giving you the perfect excuse to throw away the mountains of cookbooks you never use and creating more space for a cocktail bar instead.
