A pill a day keeps the frowns away

Barcelona’s Studio M has fused together the aesthetics of pharmacies and the love of sweets in creating this cleverly designed candy shop, Happy Pills. The shop is themed entirely around prescription medication – consisting of pill-shaped treats, medical containers, warning labels and emergency cartons for the most severe of conditions.

Studio M’s Marion Donneweg who designed the branding and packaging, as well as the shop’s interior shares how Happy Pills compares to the conventional pharmacy:
“As in a real pharmacy, customers have their labels individually printed, and can choose the “ailment” that they want the “pills” to cure – woes such as “the price of housing in general” and “washing machines that break down without warning”. On the wall is an ingredients list for happiness – components include “tickling”, “Mediterranean siesta” and “extract of John Cleese”.
When medication looks this tasty, we wouldn’t mind refilling our bottles; nor would we be shocked to see them fall out of a fashionista’s handbag.
