Jazzercise is here to stay
The video of Judi Sheppard Misset & friends working out to "Move your Boogie Body" (below) by the Bar-Kays is what Youtube was invented for. We were however shocked to discover, that far from being a retro piece of FUN, Jazzercise is actually celebrating it's 20th anniversary this year and according to its site is the the world's leading dance-fitness program with more than 6,800 instructors teaching 30,000 classes weekly in the U.S. and around the globe.
,
Jazzercise is a 60-minute group fitness class that was created by Judi Sheppard Missett in 1969. Combining cardio, strength, and stretch moves for a total body workout, it takes its moves from hip-hop, yoga, pilates, jazz dance, kickboxing, and resistance training buring up to 500 calories in a 60-minute Jazzercise class.
