Be this season's belle of the opera!
Coming soon on November 25th, 26th and 27th, right in the heart of their via della Spiga Atelier, Dolce & Gabbana are paying a tribute to the divas of this world (on and off the stage) a few days ahead of the grand opening of the Scala season.
Fond as we are of a good occasion to act like a diva, we decided to join in the fun by selecting the most stand-out outfits (is there ever a better occasion to go all out? With reason ladies, we are talking high society event...) AND asking our super-hot make-up artists their suggestions for each look. You're welcome...

Make an entrance with a roar! The above Dolce & Gabbana animal print number calls for full-scale drama; avoid the jungle look by keeping it sophisticated and elegant.
The experts say:
Opt for a compact base with a powdery finish for longer-lasting perfection… whatever you might be getting up to! That result is best achieved with a brush or dry sponge.
It’s all about eyes! The Stromboli eyeshadow quad, all volcanic black, is perfect for the smoky eye look. A little black pencil (The Eyeliner in Black), followed by the black and brick shadows. Do keep it fresh by using the Gold eyeliner in the inner corners and some lighter-coloured eyeshadow along the browline (as found in the Champagne quad).
Eyes AND lips! The upcoming Holiday 2009 collection features the perfect shade of red to light that spark in your suitors’ eyes: the Lipstick in Fire, available now.
Finish off with a touch of bronzer in Desert from temple to cheekbone, and don’t forget those all-important hands (you know for baise-mains and such); we advise to stay in the same tones with the Fire nail lacquer.

The understated chic of a sheer lace blouse and pencil skirt calls for a nude make-up with a golden glow...
The experts say:
Give yourself a subtle golden glow on the eyes (using any shade of gold eyeshadow according to complexion and hair colour), adding depth with brown accents (liner, shadow and mascara), as well as on the lips (remember less is more: apply the shine Lipstick in Gold with a blended effect and top-up with a touch of Gold lipgloss).
Keep the face very natural with the Natural or Desert bronzer, and the nails softly pretty in Pink nail lacquer.
Play grown-ups in a sweet little white dress or dress like one in curve-enhancing vamp black... or go for both; after all where's the fun in choosing? (We've even come up with a single beauty look for you not to trouble your pretty made-up head!)
The experts say:
Accentuate your eyes in all shades of grey: Platinum eyeliner coupled with the shadows from the Elegance quad (a layer of opaque grey followed by the glossy grey which is best applied wet from the centre of the eyelid towards the arch of the brow) for a bright-eyed effect.
The major ally for your lips is the Dahlia lipliner: draw a fine line on the lips but accentuate the corners to create an illusion of depth. Top-up with the Soft lipstick, which you can match to your nails using the Soft lacquer.
A subtle touch of the Desert bronzer on the cheekbone and you’re good to go!

Finally the guardian angels that we are also give you some general tips to shine at any party: never underestimate the power of a good base and concealer, apply lots of mascara, use light cleverly to add depth and enhance cheekbones, and don’t forget a good hairdo!
Keep it fresh but strategically reapplying foundation to forehead, nose and chin (there are much better ways to shine…), and please ensure you carry lipstick at all times (for post-making out touch-ups for instance). Our last tip for the adventurous only: spray your face with… yes, hairspray to make sure your makeup behaves. So that you don't have to worry about that yourself!
