The aftermath of 9/11 brought about many reaction and changes. Society and its principles were deeply affected by the tragic confrontation of the western lifestyle, and in a way, 9/11 served to make society re evaluate certain elements and strengthen others. Fashion, of course was deeply affected by the considerations being made, and Dolce&Gabbana chose to voice their opinions through a collection which departed from the urban and embraced the country

The FW02 collection was a mix and match of styles, inspirations, historical periods and ethnicities. In an effort to hone in on the concept of casual luxury, Dolce&Gabbana fashioned a collection built on contrasts. North African, Hippie, Victorian and Western, were merged in a marriage of styles, fabrics and silhouettes.

The Spring Summer 2001 was an important season for Dolce&Gabbana. The collection looked back at the decade of the house’s birth, the Eighties, with its fashion, music and icons. Madonna of course was a central influence in this collection, but in more ways that one.
