Hollywood glamour

Posted Feb 3, 2009

After the death of grunge - the Dolce & Gabbana S/S 1995 collection turned to the allure of Hollywood glamour embracing a women's femininity and a strong sensuality.

Following seasons of a waiflike and gentler vision of the feminine figure during the grunge era - the mid nineties heralded the return of "the woman". She was back and Dolce & Gabbana were ready to celebrate her in all her finery.

The collection this season turned to an iconic era where women refused the leave the house until they'd applied their red lipstick. The designers found inspiration in the photography of Helmut Newton - an eroticism that resulted in strong women striding the catwalk in black and white tuxedos. The traditional men's suit was updated into a modern day version for a strong and sexy woman such as the iconic actress Lana Turner (featured).

Styled with these strong, sexual looks were touches of kitsch - plastic raincoats emblazoned with the Dolce & Gabbana logo, polka-dots and leopard print that added unique touches for a playful, flirty and one-a-kind woman.

In a new interpretation of Hollywood Glamour – Dolce & Gabbana have chosen Scarlett Johansson to be the face of their new make-up line. Take an exclusive peek at the new campaign images here www.swide.com/lFrom-Scarlett-Johansson-s-lips/
