A “sartorialità” demonstration by Dolce & Gabbana

Posted Jun 4, 2010

Get an insight into a tailoring master’s workroom and understand what is required to achieve simple timeless elegance.

Commemorating 20 years of menswear creations is an opportunity for the two designers to highlight an Italian savoir-faire and a strong tailoring tradition. They decided to celebrate the past and to show how codes and styles still work today and how craftsmanship should be preserved and maintained. To learn from cultural heritage and tradition to create something new has always been Domenico and Stefano’s motto. They are who they are thanks to their roots; Dolce&Gabbana is somehow the symbol of an Italian reunion (the north and the south of Italy). A combination of cultures that melt together to generate a superb menswear line that seems to always exceed expectations. The designers are giving us a lesson of sartorialism. It is about cuts, seams, stitches, fabrics, and buttons… From close-ups on collars, lapels and hems, it becomes crystal clear that a suit from Dolce&Gabbana is like no other and has to be treated as such. Looking at Domenico analyzing every angle of some Gold and Martini suits, one understands that perfection lies in details and passion.  Sartorialità can hardly be translated and should not as it emphasizes an original and unique Italian craftsmanship.
