Sicilianità + Sartorialità: discover the evolution of a tailoring performance.

Following yesterday’s video relating the first five years of Dolce&Gabbana menswear, let’s continue our fashion journey and watch the second episode showcasing men’s collections from 1995 to 2000. The Sicilian heritage was not been set aside, it was reinterpreted to offer a very modern proposal (for that time). It was about simple elegance enhanced by very “couture” details but not only. It might be the influence of American fashion but during these five years that preceded the new millennium, casual designs have grown in momentum in the Dolce&Gabbana men’s line.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana ended the millennium with a spring summer 1999 collection that set our man free. Comfort was key and was achieved by using knits, fine cottons on fitted cuts. A brand new conception of menswear focused on mobility, so no more stitching but folds, revolutionary trousers and narrowed shoulder jackets, enough volume to move but not too much.

A fashion revolution was on its way: a new man for the new millennium.
