Mondo Trasho : An Introduction
People who say, “it’s a cruel world” have probably lived in Milan.
After almost 3 years here I’ve learned that everyone is connected [via gossip],
you can’t get away with anything [flat shoes], and friendships are as fleeting
as the [drug-fueled] afterparties.
Milan
is where “News” is someone photoshopping their Facebook Profile picture,
“Fashion Icon” is considered a profession and the biggest accomplishment you can
achieve is finding a heterosexual boyfriend.
While reaching “It Girl” status in NYC means being an artist [dating Kanye
West], in Milan it means knowing a PR.
But
be careful; if you’re seen with the wrong DJ or last season Zara you’re kicked
back to the curb [Colonne di San Lorenzo] as fast as you can say “but I’m on the
list!”
That being said, Milan has its charms; our Men’s Fashion Week is the best
[dirtiest] and you can find a fur coat for 15 euros [Porta Genova Vintage
Market]. The food is good [when you allow yourself to eat] and there are plenty
of foreigners [thank god you never learned Italian].
If you’ve got your head on straight, sleep at least 2 nights a week and avoid
“Hollywood” you can get by and have fun. So for those of you who just can’t
leave the drama or their beloved Aperitivo, I’ll be here to guide you through
the ride.
Who is tea? Well, Tea was born in Zagreb, Croatia, grew up in North Carolina and currently lives in Milan, studying Fashion Design at NABA. She spends her free time picking up boys at McDonald's and writing her blog. Follow her on twitter here. Add her on facebook here.
