Sicilian Girl: Lunch Break alla Sun, Sea and Surf

Sometimes, work is just plain hard. And I think it's harder when it's so beautiful outside; your phone keeps ringing and you’ve got to wear a shirt and jacket to meet people you do business with.
During these sunny days, I’ve got a secret: I wear a swimsuit under my clothes and at lunchtime I call my friends to join me on the beach. And they never say no, even if it’s fall, because, for Sicilians, October is the perfect month to enjoy the beach without the crowds.
So, it’s October, it is a gorgeous day and I have arranged to meet my friends.
I'm late, so we decide to have a quick sandwich with panelle, a kind of fried chips made with chickpea flour typical of Sicily, promising to each other that we’ll start to be on a diet from Monday, as usual.
All seemed normal; the lunch break in front of the sea, relaxing in the sun with my friends, but then I manage to break the spell that had entranced us all. I said, “I don't wanna go for a swim, I have to go back to work”, and before I could say, “No, Please!” my friends grabbed me and threw me in to the water.
I found myself worrying more about work than the fact that my friends had just thrown me into the water. But I relax and remind myself that it doesn't matter if I keep my hair dry, the sun is out and it looks ok so far… so far.
After a water fight my hair is a complete disaster and I discover that my make up is not as waterproof as I first thought. It’s too late now and decide to have fun. So, when I see a windsurfer passing by I decide to have a ride. Why not? No, I'm not a sporty girl and I can't windsurf at all but... Palermo is one of the best places to surf in Italy.
Ok, Windsurfing is not for me and it's time to go. I’ve got a meeting in half an hour, my hair is not fit to be seen and I need a solution. A striped headband appears from my bag but it doesn’t match with my printed animalier shirt, so I steal one of the boys' white t-shirt’s to straighten my look up. Et voila!
It's time to head back to the city.
