Conversations with models: The D&G Show before and after

Posted Jul 11, 2011

I’d harassed the models for long enough and now it was time for them to hit the runway and let the mayhem commence. With 20 minutes to go and last minute touch-ups being done, I was intrigued to find out how a model feels before and after a D&G fashion show.

I was expecting hear similar answers from everyone one I asked but I was surprised to find an interesting mix of emotions, some confident, some nervous and some reflective. I asked the models a few minutes before hitting the catwalk and then caught up with them after just to get a few words from them at the peak moment of the event.

 Jonathan Marquez ready to walk

Jonathan Marquez simply replied, “I’m feeling great”, when I asked him as he was getting dressed to impress and having last minute make-up applied a jaw line that could cut glass.  He was soon in line and ascending the stairs and before I knew it he was back and when asked how he was feeling now he smiled, “I’m still feeling great but it is emotional to be a part of the D&G final show.”

One member of the D&G models was feeling good before going out and then on top of the world when he had finished and told me that, “now, I’m feeling even better”, and before I knew it Tobias Sorensen was out the door.

 Nikola Jovanovic in line

Nikola Jovanovic was frank with me and said that he was feeling sweaty before walking and on return said that he was “feeling great. I only had 15 minutes to get ready; I was sweating and feeling sexy but now… I’m feeling great”. I can imagine how it feels and the amount of adrenaline these guys must have pumping through their bodies.

Sam Webb gave me an unexpected answer. D&G was the first show that he had done and he was humbled that he was able to be there for the last show and said that he was feeling quite emotional to see an element of his career come to an end. Nice words Sam.

 Francisco Lachowski caught off guard

The last model that I spoke to before and after the show was Francisco Lachowski and he also was feeling confident before the show and wanted to get up there and do it. Afterwards I asked him how he was feeling and he said, “I’m good and now I’m hit the hotel, get a shower and then do something!” I asked him what that something was and he said, “I don’t know yet”, and laughed so I shall leave that to you imagination.

 A Lachowski pout

As I said before, I received answers that had a thread of continuity of feeling good but then everyone had a different emotion or reaction to the event but one thing was for sure… that these guys were going to be having a good time that night.
