Virtual outcast
The reality of Milan however is, (I hope you're taking notes Victoria) if you dare to step away from the Bulgari hotel – is a lot trashier, and naturally, is the place where I spend most of my time. Take for example a drinks menu.
Post-work in a London bar, a bar order tends to go something like this, “Four glasses of (large) white wine please.” Post-work in a Milanese bar however an order tends to go something like this, “One Pina Colada, two Campari sodas, and an Aperol & soda per favore.”
Take the Pina Colada, not a drink that springs to mind when imagining Milan in December – yet it remains the drink of choice for the majority of my colleagues (male and female before you ask - but obviously at DG the lines are often blurred if you get my drift...) with a Campari & Soda coming a close second. Not cocktails of choice I’ll ever confess to having sampled pre-Milan but I find myself increasingly opting for.
Now, I'm aware this is not an obvious tragedy but with Christmas parties obviously come Christmas photographs - and mine are looking distinctly unworthy of Facebook (and therefore useless) as a result. My new best friend - the office photoshop boy and what every girl needs this Christmas, has been working ever so hard to remove any trace of "merriness", however the end results - black cashmere and a random Pina Colada just don't work.
Facebook is needless to say "on hold" until the situation improves and I've officially become a virtual outcast. Put that on your profile and smoke it.
