Virtual Feedback

Posted Nov 18, 2008

A trip to the police station with Mr.G's brother and my boss sends me cryptic feedback

Monday morning started with a surreal trip to the police station to officially register my missing laptop/office/wordly goods. Obviously being in a police station is never a great experience - but the sight of Mr.G's brother and my colleagues dressed completely inappropriately in black/heels/leather did make for a strange fashion statement. It felt a bit like Charlie's Angels for a brief moment - only without the sunshine and glamourous locations.

The moment however was quickly replaced by intense embarrassment as I made my statement to the police officer in broken Italian with the added stress of Mr.G's brother sitting next to me. My colleague who lost a handbag in the "grand heist" had the most difficult task, having to explain the "Animalier print" specific to AW08 to a bemused police officer. We settled for leopard.

When I finally got back to the office (two hours later!!) I discovered a series of emails from my boss, who assuming I had slept in this morning had resorted to a new form of virtual feedback that bypassed me entirely. Given that NO is the predominant word - it doesn't take a genius/fluent Italian speaker to figure my current project is yet again a failure in his eyes.
