The Beckham cross examination

It goes without saying there is a whole slew of things to do during lunch time that don't always involve a sit-down lunch. Although I don't miss a Pret-a-manger sandwich and salt and vinegar crisps in front of the computer London-style, not every day is of course la Dolce Vita - if it's not an impending deadline then it's a beauty appointment that keeps me out of the trattoria and on a diet of cold panino's.
Today I had an obligatory hair appointment - what with the robbery and Mr. G's birthday I've been lucky if I'm remembered the date let alone a beauty appointment. Anyway off I pop to the hairdresser, who reputedly cuts Anna Wintour's hair when in Milan ( I'm told that she drinks cappucino's which surprised me when I had her down for an espresso type of woman...) anyway, there I was gossiping away when I realised a member of the press office also happened to also be in the establishment having her nails done - naturally we exchanged pleasantries but I remained mute for the remainder of the blow-dry scaring my hairdresser. Fingers crossed the sound of the hairdryers diminished my gossiping...
On the subject of high maintenance, am slightly obsessing about when Mrs Beckham will be in Milan - as is my hairdresser, and every other beauty business I've visited in the last month. They all scarily seem to believe that because I'm British a) I'm friends with her and b) then proceed to bribe me into contacting her. All I can say is I've obviously suceeded in dressing way beyond my status but I'm not sure how I will cope until January with the Beckham cross-examination.
