She's sleepy right now, please call back later
You may be thinking that Facebook is all fun and games and online flirting - and of course it is, but in our office it also plays a far different role. As you may have imagined, I'm not the type of girl to sit at my desk 24-7. Given half a chance I'm off "networking", or backstage at some "exclusive" event or else recovering from said event at home. Either way, if you multiply me by 30 you'll get an idea of the "Herculean task" the secretaries have in attempting to track us down.
Before you raise the obvious question of mobile phones/blackberries etc, let me remind you that we're often far too busy to even answer them (plus ignoring calls looks very professional/busy and wins extra points). Therefore by regularly updating our profile page not only can we tell the world where we are but can also check-in with the office at the same time and importantly have an excuse to play on Facebook.
I do sometimes wonder though what a non-DG person calling might think of it all. This morning for example someone phoned looking for a colleague and when we answered that they were running late but definitely coming into their office as their Facebook status said they were sleepy I did wonder what would happen when the secretaries get on Twitter??? Will our lunch/outfits/hair be revealed as well as our whereabouts??
WHERE ARE YOU??? behindtheseams@gmail.com
