My office is bigger than your office
So there I was having a regular dinner (=several bottles of wine) night out with some of my best Milanese friends, who naturally all in work in fashion (do people do anything else here in Milan???). Talk as usual turned to office "accommodation" (we literally live in the office and so therefore have nothing else to talk about), we started discussing the merits of her enviable position.
In a normal conversation, talk would perhaps lead onto her career prospects, nice colleagues, travel oportunities or at the very least - her fat salary. No, what actually (and sadly) got us all gasping was the word "window" - and not I may add as in a "window of opportunity".
As 80% of fashion lives and works literally underground (and not in the cool sense), in darkened rooms, corporate spaces that look like call-centres and small cupboards - a window is considered, well a grand perk.
"A window???" we all gasped collectively - and seriously.
Five minutes later, we all saw the ridiculous side of our window enthusiasm and had a good old giggle - but you know what? All three of us were genuinely in awe of that window and the girl that gets to sit beside it.
