Multi-tasking Dolce & Gabbana style

Posted May 15, 2009

With the Cannes party any day now - the office is reaching near hysteria. Lunch has been postponed for a week as beauty appointments take priority and even massages are no longer sacred.

So imagine your office christmas party - not such a big deal you may say. An invite pops into your mail box and five minutes later you're discussing what shoes to wear. With a Cannes party however, aside from the shoe conversation everything else pales into comparison. For a start not everyone is the recipent of one of these golden tickets.

This week has seen a deathly hush descend on the office as the office messengers go about their merry way. As one enters the office, an anguished tone descends on the office as desperate eyes peer to see if they will be the lucky recipent of an invite.

When the fat black envelope lands on someone's desk, the level of tension is raised yet another notch - and that's before anyone has even starting working on the project.

With the workload and beauty preparations taking their toll, my colleague dropped into the conversation that she was so pushed for time she had to resort to working during her massage. When I asked her if she managed to relax in this way she replied that shouting was actually a better stress relief (or could it be actually because she received her golden ticket this afternoon??).

Girls, it's time to throw out the aromatherapy oils - get on that phone and yell at whoever you can. Cannes cannot wait  - believe me. No-one ever looks desperate on the right side of the velvet rope - no matter how you get there.
