Cruising the office

Posted Nov 19, 2008

A lunch-time turns into post-traumatic loss syndrome and the cruise season is almost here

Our usual lunchtime spot for a plate of vegetables - the party or cruise season to those in fashion is almost upon us. Although the word "cruise" tends to have several meanings in this particular building - the preparations of the fashion sort at least have already started to ensure we are all looking fabulous for the new deliveries of resort wear/party wear. It's a process involving not only diet - but the obligatory investment in a new party wardrobe, at least I cleverly scheduled in a meeting with the design team last week so I have have the heads up on the best pieces - gold, gold, gold).

In addition to the wardrobe there are the usual round of manicures and blow-dries and a fitness trainer doesn't go a miss at this time of the year. As one of the most powerful ladies in the DG building stated at the end of a meeting last week, "THIS WILL COST MONEY". We all nodded in agreement (we're all believers in size here and love a big budget or two) but I'm quite sure 99% of us were referring to our cruise wardrobe/party season pre-detox and not the matter in hand.

Anwyay, aside from cruising the office is competing in the melodrama stakes for who lost the most in the Dolce&Gabbana heist - so an ill-timed visit to our local trattoria, scared the hell out of one girl when she saw the place-mats. It's a sick world before the cruising starts.
