Art smells, fashion doesn't

Posted May 22, 2009

As Cannes is creating office hysterica the only way to escape maybe these ever so appropriate headphones seen at last night's art opening. I bargained on blocking out sound - but blocking out smell? Who knew art smelt so bad???

I try, I really do. With vacuousness literally pouring out of me after a day down the glitter coalface and a weekend in Cannes trying to make A-listers talk to me, I thought an art opening would give me the respite I needed from my fashion madness. What I was completely unprepared for, and for this I apologise in advance, was the smell.

Although Milan is hitting 28 degrees - here in fashion land we're still managing to smell sweet (even if work does involve a helicopter directly to a Cannes beachfront). Call me lacking in the bohemian gene but I really believe I've discovered the much debated and missing link between art & fashion. Could it be as simple as a...shower???!!

Unable to debate this concept with my amore/boyf - who told me to be quiet and "stop being so fashion", how pleased I was when a fashion journalist popped by to say hello and opened with the words "God, it stinks in here". I tell you - art & fashion - not- the - same.
