Antony's in town
I went to see Antony last night. A very, very chic evening with Milan's finest (including the zeitgeist press office who managed to snag the front two rows) plus an orchestra accompaniment - was ever so slightly worried about Antony’s toga wearing though.
Managed to wangle a backstage pass (slightly embarrassing that I can manage a backstage pass for a concert but not when I actually need one for my job...). Annoyingly had to queue for about seventeen hours in order to get past the security (next to whom I’m sure was a v.v.famous female fashion designer - I know this sounds strange but in this era of photoshop its v. difficult to identify people in the flesh) and shake hands with my beloved diva.
You can imagine the rest. A mute nod from me, and a bemused look in return from him. Had to console myself afterwards with three large glasses of vino outside de Santis – where my friend Viktor, who is a professional “happy manager” (seriously), and therefore the perfect friend for my frequent melt-downs, and I cheered ourselves up with our mutual admiration for Antony’s assistant, a very chic transvestite who worked the Dolly Parton’s 9-5 look to perfection.
