A real lesson in style

Posted Mar 23, 2009

There I was thinking buying a handbag and a pair shoes gave me entry to the fashion pack - turns out I've actually been missing a trick. As the showroom turns into an atelier - I witness a humbling bit of fashion action.

The only thing that usually humbles me in the fashion-world is facing a six-foot Russian model backstage at the fashion shows. For the rest of the time - a tough skin and an overdraft usually ensures I stay adrift in the glamorous game.

That was however until "a meeting" (and by this what I actually mean is a mental shopping trip) took me into the showroom and what appears to be a temporary atelier. There, before me were ladies feverishly mending the AW beauties after all their strenuous catwalk action.

Now the nearest thing I've ever come to sewing is adding a button to a rather revealing blouse - but actually stitching neat, tiny, beautiful little stitches did I have to say take my breath temporarily away. When I recovered, my first question was obviously how she'd got her hands on the cute Dolce & Gabbana white shirt...
