Lana Del Rey was Born To Die
Her song ‘Video Games’ started doing the rounds on the internet during the Summer and got tongues wagging by the end of August. Since then, Lana has been the subject of a lot of attention; numerous performances – including her first U.K. t.v appearance on Later… with Jools Holland, intimate live shows at the likes of Chateau Marmont, journalists clawing to get a few words from her, and all of this off the back of a video for ‘Video Games’, which went viral. The song then had its official release, doubled up with the song ‘Blues Jeans’ – a Chris Isaak tinged indie-ballad that has received just as much attention. Then there are the magazine shoots. She has also been appearing on the covers of Wonderland, Spex and featured in V Magazine’s Music Issue, in which she revealed a bit more about herself to the world.

The 1st of December saw Lana’s official second single uploaded onto Youtube, receiving huge praise globally, and getting her fans new and old hot with anticipation for the eminent video.
Well, it is here. Released during afternoon hours of yesterday, the video for ‘Born To Die’ represents the self-penned Gangsta Nancy Sinatra as a woman consumed by dangerous love. Directed by hugely talented Woodkid (who brought us the epic Iron) and filmed in Paris, the video takes us through striking images; the singer sitting on a throne in a French Catherdral between two tigers, a shirtless Del Rey embracing a tattooed man in front of an American Flag and culminating in the tragic image of her bloodied corpse being held by her man amid a fire dashed scene. 'Born To Die' is released 23rd January and the album of the same title 30th January.
