Peter Bjorn presents...The Suzan

The Suzan are a Japanese pop-rock band consisting of sisters Saori (guitar and vocals) and Rie (keyboard and vocals), along with buddies Ikue and Nico. Fusing sounds of jungle-jazz beats and looping organs, The Suzan are proving not to be your average riot girl band. The word "unconventional" doesn't just describe their sound, but also their name choice. The band's name, The Suzan, was taken from the sister's family name. The band's strange sound caught the attention of musical mastermind Pete Bjorn, who will be helping the band in producing and releasing their upcoming album (yet to be named). Fans were able to get a glimpse of the band in action during this year's SXSW music festival.
"Leave me alone"- Pretty good dance moves (David Wolf remix feat. vocals from The Suzan)
What first got people talking about The Suzan was their first single, "Home" off Fools Gold Records . Recently, The Suzan performed "Home" live for a SXSW music festival audience. "Home” is said to be a "full-on hyperactive bopping around the dancefloor steez, a spunky number propelled by hollow drum rudders and four-girl vocals that veer from pop melody to chanted anthem". That by far has been the closest description for this band. We at Swide are not one to categorize nor place classifications on to artist, but we would categorize this band under "bands we like". The Suzan may be a acquired taste, but we suggest you give them a try.
