Falling in love with Micky Green

Posted Mar 2, 2010

With Paris fashion week beginning today, what better time than now to introduce the talented, Paris-based singer-songwriter, Micky Green. Australian native, now Paris resident, Micky has been receiving widespread attention for both her music and personal style. Swide uncovers why Micky has us singing, “Oh Micky, you’re so fine. You’re so fine, you blow our mind, hey Micky!”

Michaela Gehrmann, otherwise known as Micky Green, hails from the land down under, Australia, but has been calling Paris “home” for the past 6 years. Micky first began her career as a model, but soon after decided to pursue her number one passion, music. At the tender age of 11, Micky learned how to play the drums, and shortly after even taught herself how to play the piano. Music has always been Micky’s true love. So, it comes as now surprise that modelling eventually took a backseat in her career.

Micky, the singer-songwriter, was first introduced to the world in 2007 with her freshman album, “White T-Shirt”. The album was extremely successful in France, partly in thanks to the commercially friendly song, “Oh”. The sweet and sultry sounds of “Oh” struck a chord with Micky’s French listeners. In describing the sound behind “White T-Shirt” would be that of hypnotic, soulful, folk, with a hint of dance every now and then.

Effortless style.

While Micky Green took time off to record her second album, that didn’t mean she stopped making appearances. Many designers, fashion editors, have noted her personal style and have invited her to fashion shows, collection launches and have even featured her in style features in magazines.

No stranger to fashion, Micky Greene seated in the front row at the Chanel S/S 2009 show alongside Claudia Schiffer.

Being adored as merely a fashion "it-girl" didn't quite cut it for Micky, so she has rightfully returned to the music scene with her much anticipated sophomore album, “Honky Tonk”. With her second album, Micky tells SFR Music, “I had more of an idea of how to write a song, or even playing live…I wanted my music to be more lively and rhythmic”. Reviving the same elements that first brought her success, simplistic charming sounds of her vintage piano and horns. After listening to released tracks like, “My mind” and most recent, “T.L"( True Love), we are certain that many will fall in love in the Aussie singer this year, not just France.
