Au revoir Simone
Au revoir Simone (their name is taken from Tim Burton's Pee-Wee's Big Adventure) have various musical influences that range from Beatles to hardcore punk. Their latest album - "Still night, Still light" will be released on May 19th, the first one from Our Secret Record Company.
The album's cover doesn't disappoint: it's a black and white drawing of night scenery where the only light source is the moon. The track titles live up to our dreamy expectations with names such as "Shadows, Knight of Wands, Trace a line... conjuring up images of travel in a charming wonderland riding a magic bed (we've been on holiday before you ask...).
Everyone who listens to the album tends to falls in love with "bedroom pop" - the track to fight the indie-80s-electro-synth-pop band dominance of the last few years, including Mr. David Lynch. The girls created the soundtrack for David Lynch book readings both in NY and Paris their music a perfect with the surreal atmosphere of his art. Take a peek below.
Au revoir Simone's debut album was actually released in 2005, entitled "Verses of Comfort, Assurance & Salvation". The tracks introduced a new delicious soft-pop sound conveyed by breathless poems produced by synth, drum machine and voices styled à-la-Jane Birkin.
In their playful videos the girls refreshingly dress in retro 1950's skirts and striped t-shirts, mimicking bohemian art students walking, playing, and philosophising on a spring day in New York.

Their nonchalent (and genuine) cool style means they're obviously already fashion icons in our eyes and needless to say Tokyo has caught on. The girl's look has already hit the Harajuku streets and the Japanese fashion victims.
