How Lady Gaga and Madonna Interpret Dolce & Gabbana

Posted Nov 23, 2011

How do two pop icons, one with a career that spans 30 yrs and one that has taken over the world by storm in just three interpret Dolce&Gabbana?

Here we see pop legend Madonna and pop icon Lady Gaga both wearing Dolce&Gabbana. Their difference in style and difference in lifestyle are palpable, but of course Dolce&Gabbana fits both.

Madonna, in her heyday, liked to make a song and dance about her outfits, as much as her life choices and her music. Today, having conquered the pop world, and being well on her way to conquering other forms of art such as film, Madonna knows who she is. She has evolved, she has grown with society and now has earned pride of place in it. Here we see her, looking very elegant, very grown up, sporting a tailored, smart, lady like Dolce&Gabbana coat with fox collar trim and macramé applications. She looks like any stylish fifty-something lady going about her daily life. Yes, Dolce&Gabbana is that too. Something elegant, functional and fashionable for the everyday.

Lady Gaga, is this century’s musical phenomenon, for the moment. Her popularity, her following and her musical style go hand in hand with her fashion statements. Never one to be seen in track suits and trainers, Gaga makes a point of always being “dressed”. Her outfits are meticulously studied, even in the everyday, Lady Gaga looks like she’s just walked off stage from a performance, or off the runway at a couture show. At the launch of Terry Richardson’s book featuring none other than herself and her image says it all. Blond beehive, sunglasses, rouged lips, and a figure exposing, show stopping Dolce&Gabbana floor length lace dress.

This is one of the cases where the brand’s dichotomy lives through these two personages, for example. Dolce&Gabbana as a brand dresses the Madonnas of the past and of the present, Dolce&Gabbana fits the Lady Gaga’s of the present and, once she has reached the highest peak of stardom, and chooses to relax, Dolce&Gabbana will dress her in the future too.
