Why the A-List stay at home
The A-List love a flashbulb or two - the red carpet, the adoring gaze of the public - so why we wondered would they shun all of this to stay at home? The recession is not as you may think the answer but rather a - boardgame.
Yes, there we were, thinking Hollywood was all designer dresses, fast cars, fabulous restaurants and champagne on tap when it turns out all the A-List really want to do is play dominoes. The official line is that the game's creators Charlize Theron's cousin, Inge, and her business partner, Daya Fernandez noticed (some) Hollywood stars were shunning the limelight and intrusive paparazzi to host game nights in their own homes and hence Hollywood Domino was born. We however have our own opinion which is that that Hollywood is a competitive lot - and any opportunity to out-do each other is worth playing hard for. In this new generation of dominoes - players aim to become directors of their own film - chosing their genre, with the aim to create a "movie reel" before their competitors.
The Hollywood version game has just been launched in Hollywood and London, ironically at a huge A-List party with lots of paparazzi, where stars such as Sienna Miller, model Eva Herzigova, Olivier Martinez, Penelope Cruz, Josh Hartnett, Salma Hayek and Charlize Theron battled to win a unique version of the dominoes Oscar. In New York, Jennifer Morrison, star of Hayek and House won the honours collecting her prize in black Dolce & Gabbana.
