Why Madonna is a creature of habit

Posted Oct 23, 2009

Most of us know Madonna as the fashion chameleon, the first to adopt underground trends and unafraid to venture into pastures new. When it comes to restaurants and handbags, however Madonna proves she has her favorites.

When in London Madonna is near spotted faraway from the Michelin-starred Italian restaurant Locanda Locatelli. Whether it’s a girly dinner with best friends fashion design Stella McCartney or actress Gwyneth Paltrow, or power pow wowo, this is restaurant that appears to hold an enduring appeal for the global superstar – who we imagine it takes a lot to hold her attention.

Giorgio Locatelli, opened the restaurant in February 2002, and since then it has functioned as an ultra-discreet hideaway for the A-List in London’s luxurious Mayfair. The key to the restaurant’s success is said to be it’s discreet staff that are rumoured to sign a confidentiality agreement as part of their contract. It’s where Bill Clinton, Simon Cowell, Paul McCartney (Lucian Freud brought Kate Moss here during a break when he was painting her portrait) dine out, but if you’re expecting razzmatazz you’ll be disappointed – if anything the restaurant’s USP is its simple sophistication.

And it appears it’s not just restaurants that have longevity with the pop Queen but handbags too. For the last few months, Madonna has been spotted out and about with a Dolce & Gabbana Miss Sicily handbag (featured above) never far from her side.

Appearance on Letterman – check. London dinner with designer friends – check. Having been friends with designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana for many years (Madonna used their Portofino house earlier this year to celebrate her 51st birthday with new love Jesus Luz) – her Italian loyalty it appears runs a lot deeper than to only food.
