Scarlett Johansson sees RED at Carnegie Hall
The great and the good came to support the cause launched in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver to engage the private sector in the fight against AIDS in Africa, and to honour Irish singer songwriter Gavin Friday – a childhood friend of Bono.
The host of the evening, Hall Willner has produced albums for Marianne Faithfull, Lou Reed, William S. Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg, yet is perhaps best known for assembling tribute albums and live events saluting Leonard Cohen, Thelonius Monk, Tim Buckley, Edgar Allen Poe and Marquis de Sade.

Rufus Wainwright, Scarlett Johansson and Saturday Night Live’s Fred Armisen joined Friday for the track “Mr. Pussy,” from Friday’s 1995 album, Shag Tobacco. Scarlett Johansson, activist, actress, Dolce & Gabbana muse (featured above in one of their designs) has supported (RED) since its launch. Other participating stars included Courtney Love, Lou Reed, Lady Gaga, Antony Hegarty, Shane MacGowan, and U2.
