Swide Magazine by Dolce&Gabbana

Swide gave free pass to your questions this week and just interviewed Matthew McConaughey, here are your answers …

The handsome Hollywood actor and face of The One For Men Dolce&Gabbana fragrance, made a personal appearance this evening at la Rinascente in Milan. Matthew McConaughey accepted to spend sometime with Swide and to answer your questions.  

 

1/ How do you keep in shape and stay fit? (Luigi)

MMC: I try to break a sweat at least once a day. It makes my brain work better plus it gives me more energy, it takes away stress. When I do not have time to work out, I find something else to do instead. I can go for a run if I have a destination. Sometimes I play with my son. I mix up various activities otherwise I get bored. 

 

2/For an actor, what is different from shooting a movie and an advertising campaign? (David)

MMC: Obviously you do not speak in an ad. Advertisement is much more like movement, you follow a wave, you move among the things on the scene. You have to get your point across only through movements. It is quite challenging because you do not have this outlet of speaking. I really enjoyed shooting the campaign for The One For Men fragrance by Dolce&Gabbana and when I came back to my movie script, I realized that I did not need some of the lines.

 

3/ How do you usually prepare for a role? (Lea)

MMC: Some roles are research intensive others are more of a dream but for each one of them I have to look at the traits I have in myself that are this man. Then it is a matter of concentration on those traits to free them up and to bring them out. 

 

4/ How would you describe your personal style? (Michael)

MMC: I am pretty renaissance, I could surf and be on the beach in morning, no shoes no shirts and be in a tuxedo at a party in the evening. It stands from practicability.

 

5/ Do you follow a strict diet? (Alexandre)

MMC: Not overly strict, I love food, in my family we cook a lot. So always fresh food and homemade. We hardly go out to eat. 

 

6/ What is your beauty routine? (Evandro)

MMC: The perfect scenario would be: a good night of sleep, wake up, spend some time in the sun and not rushing at all. I don’t touch my hair; I let it dry on my own.   

 

7/ Do you like Italy for a movie setup? (Laura)

MMC: Yes but actually you do not really get to see much of where you shoot. You spend 12 hours a day working – 6 days a week, so there is not much time left to visit. I worked in Rome but did not get to see much of it. You need to arrive a few days before the beginning of a shoot or stay longer.

 

8/ Do you have a wishlist of directors and actors you would like to work with? (Ivanna)  

MMC: Yes, I would like to work with film director Jean-Marc Vallée. In fact, I am currently working on a script that I am really excited about. I would like to work with Richard Linklater again; we have already done two films together. Richard knows me and I feel safe; trust is key.

 

9/As a child, did you imagine being famous? (Sonia)

MMC: Famous maybe, but more as a football player. Now I would rather play a famous football player for 3 months and go, to play someone else.
