Madonna premiers a creative look
You know Madonna is in a serious and creative mood when she opts for demure. Whilst the rest of us were laid on the beach during August, Madonna was spotted in her home state Michigan for the premiere of her latest film, and documentary, I Am Because We Are.
Opting for a black Dolce & Gabbana silk dress, Madonna looked the consummate professional as she headlined the Traverse City Film Festival , founded by documentary film-maker and fellow Michigan native, Michael Moore. The film directed by Nathan Rissman, his directorial debut, and written, produced and narrated by Madonna herself, explores the issues facing the African country of Malawi, a country close to her heart following the adoption her Malawian son David.
The documentary follows the stories of Aids orphans, through an exploration of their lives set alongside Madonna’s personal journey Madonna as she introduces the culture of the country. Along the way the documentary includes insights from former U.S President Bill Clinton, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Prof. Jeffery Sachs.
The film will also be released as a book in Jan 2009 with images from the acclaimed photojournalist Kristen Ashburn and foreword by Madonna.
Proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the charitable organization Raising Malawi.
