Madonna, the myth, the actress

1996: Came the opportunity of a lifetime. Madonna had convinced director Alan Parker to cast her in a life-changing role, Eva Peron in Evita.
Madonna strongly wanted to share Evita¹s story and at the same time, do it justice. She goes on to explain her reasons for feeling compelled to take on such a role:
Her courage in not letting herself be beaten, ever. She fought to the end. Evita had influence over a lot of people who believe she was a saint and a source of inspiration.
The same can be said for Madonna who continues to inspire others to express themselves and channel their inner-voice into creative outlets.
Strength, also being a common characteristic shared between both Eva Peron and Madonna. During production, Madonna found out she would be bringing Lourdes into the world. She managed to withstand hours of dancing, singing and wardrobe changes, all while carrying a child.

Actress pal Nicole Kidman is clearly admiring Madonna's post-pregnancy cleavage...
Acknowledgement of Madonna¹s sacrifices and hard work soon came during the Golden Globes in 1997, where she won Best Actress in a Comedy-Musical. It is then where Madonna, "the actress", received the ultimate recognition.

Showing how it's done, family-style (think new housewife Madonna) in a black number not too unlike her Golden Globes LBD...
Since then she has been much more of a presence on the red carpet than she has on the screen (to the dismay of her film fans but the delight of fashionistas). Although nowadays thanks to Dolce & Gabbana's latest campaign we are once again getting a feel for actress Madonna as we catch glimpses of Anna Magnani and the glorious actresses and characters from 1960s Neorealist film. A taste of things to come? We're crossing our (manicured) fingers...
